OK, some of you are going to hate me for this one… The peanut butter purists are going to go nuts. No pun intended.
I love peanut butter. But here’s the reality: peanut butter is insanely calorie-dense. One jar packs nearly 4,400 calories. That’s a lot of energy in a very small space. And if you’re trying to manage your calories, that can get out of hand fast.
When you buy natural peanut butter, you’ve probably seen that pool of oil floating on top. That’s peanut oil. Nothing “bad” about it. Peanut oil is delicious, and fat is an important part of your diet. But when you’re trying to keep calories in check, pouring that oil straight back into your peanut butter is basically adding hundreds of extra calories you don’t really need.
Here’s the hack: pour it off.
That’s it. Just dump it.
That layer can be as much as half a cup of pure oil. By getting rid of it, you instantly:
So instead of mindlessly spreading an extra few hundred calories on your toast, you get leaner peanut butter that’s higher in protein per bite.. without sacrificing flavor.
Try it. Or convince me on why I should keep it!
