Better Legs and Core

OK, squat lovers… don’t hate me.

I’m not saying squats are bad. I just don’t use them much, and rarely with clients.

Why? Because in over 20 years, I’ve never met someone with perfectly equal strength in both legs.
Whether it’s from having a dominant leg, an old injury, scoliosis, or even a small leg length difference… one side always takes over.

When you squat, that imbalance gets worse. Over time, that means more wear and tear on one side of your body.
Plus, with squats you need heavier weight to really feel the same intensity you could get from a smarter option.

That’s why I love single-leg movements like reverse lunges, lateral lunges, skater lunges, forward lunges… the list goes on.

  • They make both sides work equally.
  • They demand less load while delivering the same burn.
  • And here’s the real hack. Try holding weight unevenly. One dumbbell in one hand. Or different weights on each side.

This forces your core to stabilize against the imbalance. Stronger legs, stronger core. 2 in 1.

Give it a try. Let me know what you think.
